Torus Mandibularis

Torus Mandibularis

This is an image of fairly small mandibular torii.  (The term torii is the plural for torus.)  They are hard, bony protuberances of the bone of the inside of the lower jaw.  Sometimes they interfere with the wearing of a lower full denture.  If this is the case they are easily removed by an oral surgeon.

Torus Mandibularis

This image is an example of rather large mandibular torii.  (The term torii is the plural for the term torus.)  They are hard, bony protuberances of the lower jaw.  They are generally covered by thin tissue which may make them prone to injury from sharp food items.
